I have had 5 first days of school as a teacher. However, I can honestly say that for some reason, I am most excited about this one. With new ideas, research, and a ton of enthusiasm under me, I have a feeling that this year will be the best yet.
On a previous blog post, I wrote that I didn't necessarily know where the blog was going. I do now. I am going to focus on being apart of educational revolution that's taking place. No more are we teaching like we're in the 70s, with the teacher in the front talking all the time and delivering information. Instead, we're guiding students to see how they can compete in a global society by producing things.
Education should be relevant and actually prepare students for life. It should also be a way to foster creativity and sharpen minds through critical thinking.
I do not believe this is what's happening in schools, and I'm going to try my best to be the change that I want to see. It's easy to complain about the restrictions and red tape, but it's another to be on the other side of change.
So, with the first day of school starting in a few days, I'm going to continue preparing for the start of the new school year and marinating in my excitement.
