230. Who's Stretching You?

One of the main themes of the Stay Ready Conference in Houston, TX was having a strong team.

Building a team -- or existing in one -- is never an easy task if you don't have the right people around you. According to ET:

If you don’t have the right people in your space, you will be limited in your success.
— Dr. Eric Thomas

Unfortunately, I used to be one of those people that believed that I didn't really need anyone around me. I was okay being "one-deep." A self-proclaimed loner, socially awkward, and plagued with anxiety, I was okay with being off somewhere in a corner with earbuds lodged in my ears, tuning everyone out.

But, then I realized something. I was stagnant. Going nowhere. Wasn't advancing in life like I thought I should. And when I went to the root of my plateau, I realized it had to do with the fact that I was not surrounding myself with quality people who could stretch me to be better. To get me out of my comfort zone and learn to build relationships just for the sake of being more open and helpful to others.

I also realized that when I studied the most successful people in the world, they had some sort of team. I knew that success didn't come from one person. It was a shared, collaborative effort.

We all need someone to stretch us. We all need people in our lives who will tell us the truth, encourage us, and give us advice when we need it most.

So, I ask: Who's stretching you to live out your full potential?
