107. Staying Ready

Spring Break is here. While most people are gearing up to board flights across the waters or doing some much needed cleaning. I may do the latter, but I know for sure I'm going to utilize my time wisely this break. Originally I was planning on attending Dr. Eric Thomas's Stay Ready Conference, but my poor little buddy pass unfortunately wasn't enough to grant me entry on a fully booked 60-seated flight. (Boooo.)

But, all hope is not lost. This weekend, I'll be attending SXSW (South by Southwest) in Austin, TX, a festival I like to describe as "celebrating the creative." For a week, people will flock to major players in the film, book, music, and other creative industries for concerts, panels, and networking.

Besides eating good food, listening to live music, and buying some paraphernalia from my alma mater (co-op, here I come), I'm also going to visit the authors of the book Hustle: The Power to Charge Your Life with Money, Meaning, and Momentum.

I received this book a year or so ago, and it spoke to me. It was a story about entrepreneurs willing to put in the late nights after a long day at work, it was about those willing to hone in on their craft, and about people willing to channel their energies to their passions. What's not to love?

So, although I may not attend the Stay Ready Conference, I'm still going to apply the same principles. This backup plan may just be what the doctor ordered, who knows? Who knows who I'll meet, what I'll learn, or where I'll go. I don't have to get ready if I have to stay ready, right? That's exactly what I'm planning to do.

Until next time, have a great start to your Spring Break.
