65. Facing Fears & Getting the Job Done

My schedule was pretty full today, and I went through great lengths to complete the majority of items on my to do list. However, there's been one thing and one thing alone that's been kicking my behind: writing an original post for an online publishing platform.

Sites like Blavity and Medium allow users to post their own stories, and I want to utilize this opportunity to write for different sources, to get into the groove of writing consistently, and to take advantage of wide readership. After all, one of my goals is to use my writing to uplift, inspire, educate, entertain, and to heal. What's the point of writing if no one's reading?

However, it's been challenging to say the least. I wrote a post about perfectionism yesterday, and I'm still dealing with the concept a bit. Although I've gotten over deleting my words every five minutes because it's not "up to standard," I'm still in a slight struggle-mode. I think what's also important to note is that the topic I'm actually writing about is rather...interesting.

In the post, I'm confronting a fear that has kept me from achieving greatness for a long time.

Sometimes that happens to us. When we finally make the decision to face our fears, there's a piece of us that's afraid to jump in head first, to conquer what scares us most. But, we have to be willing to do it. We have to be willing to face what scares us. If we don't, we will never see our greatest potential. We will always have to worrying about having that "scary" situation -- the kitten that we've made into a lion -- show up in our lives and scare us back into a cage.

I'm getting closer to finishing my post, and I'll certainly update the blog about my series when it's up and running. I see successful days in my future, but it all starts with these small, consistent steps. One of those steps have to be

facing a fear and getting the job done.
