If you're not from the Galveston or greater Houston area you may not know about a festival called Dickens on the Strand. In a nutshell, it's a "Victorian Holiday" that recognizes the literary giant Charles Dickens as well as the 19th century.
I was first introduced to Dickens on the Strand when I was around 12 or 13 years old and, as a book nerd, I looked forward to the festival. I liked:
The history (I love classic/historical type events)
The Victorian-styled costumes
The vendors (the hot chocolate and funnel cakes are so good!)
The arts and crafts
